Chex Mix
We wrapped up our measurement unit by making Chex Mix in class today. We took turns measuring out the different ingredients. They did a great job with converting things from cups, half cups, and quarter cups. It turned out very well, minus me burning some of it. We had it for our afternoon snack and they all ate it so I figured it wasn't that bad. We will begin temperature, calendars, and telling time this week and continue into next week.

Gallon Men
We made gallon men in math today. He breaks down how we measure liquids. They discovered more about gallons, half gallons, quarts, pints, and cups. They will keep these at school for the rest of the unit but it would be good to ask them what they learned and how the gallon man is set up.

We went to Lark today to read with our Kindergarten buddies for the first time today. We will be trying to do this once a month so they can form a bond with our buddies. They had a great time today. The kindergartners really like having us come to their room and they really look up to the third graders.

Measurement
We are starting our measurement unit in math this week. The students really enjoy this unit because it is much more hands on. Anything you can do that can help them would be appreciated. Weighing things, measuring with rulers, asking what you would use to measure different things, and letting them help you cook (measure things out) would help out a lot.

Veteran's Day
We went to the High School today to watch the Veteran's Day ceremony. The third grade led the pledge of allegiance and they also sang "You Are Our Hero's". Kailey brought in her great grandpa's purple heart as well as his bronze medal to share with the class.

classroom visitor
Once a month Georgine Wessel comes to talk to us about nature. On Monday she visited us to talk about beavers. She had a video of a beaver damn that was being built by her house and where they were getting their trees from. She also had a beaver tooth and and a skull. The kids really enjoy hearing from Georgine.
